Of the two species in our area, the Double-crested Cormorant
is the primary summer resident and the one more likely to be seen at any time
on fresh water. The pair of feather tufts occasionally raised atop its head
account for its common name. All the photographs below show Double-crested
Cormorants. The lighter colored ones are juveniles.
